&lt;p&gt;Event: &lt;strong&gt;CEED Resume Critique&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Date: Wednesday October 7, 2009&lt;br /&gt;Location: 6270 Boelter Hall&lt;br /&gt;Time: 12 noon - 7 p.m.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Description:&lt;br /&gt;Students will be meeting one-on-one with company representatives to refresh and tailor their resumes and get valuable information on how to best present themselves through their resumes. The goal is for students to prepare themselves for the Engineering Career Fair on October 21, 2009.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Event: &lt;strong&gt;Interviewing Techniques&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Date: Tuesday October 13, 2009&lt;br /&gt;Location: TBD&lt;br /&gt;Time: 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Description:&lt;br /&gt;This workshop is designed to help students become successful at interviewing. Students will learn techniques needed to be successful in a behavioral and technical interview. This event is a Tri-Org event that will be facilitated by representatives from Cisco and Intel.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Event: &lt;strong&gt;CEED Sixth Annual Corporate Gamesmanship&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Date: Tuesday October 20, 2009&lt;br /&gt;Location: De Neve Plaza - Second Floor&lt;br /&gt;Time: 5 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Description:&lt;br /&gt;This event will consist of several components. Industry participation is requested for all areas. &lt;br /&gt;a. Information Session - Set up in career fair style, CEED students will have the opportunity to speak to our industry partners in a pre-screening situation and gain valuable insight on how to position themselves for the next step toward interviews.&lt;br /&gt;b. Interviewing - Well prepared students will be given the opportunity to participate in an actual interview that can lead to summer internships or full-time positions. &lt;br /&gt;c. Simulated Interviewing - This component will provide less prepared students the opportunity to participate in a simulated interview and to gain insightful feedback on their performance. &lt;br /&gt;d. &lt;p&gt;Description:&lt;br /&gt;The support of industry in form of scholarships or IAB presence at the banquet will help UCLA CEED recognize about eighty undergraduate and graduate scholars as well as recognize our K-12 students and teachers. As we all know, the competition for technical talent is global in nature and increasingly intense. This event offers industry the opportunity to interact with and motivate the high achieving upcoming generation of engineers.&lt;/p&gt;

		<title>Congratulations, Monroe Middle School!</title>

		<description>&lt;p&gt;Five MESA Monroe students participated and won $10,000 last June 4, 2009 at the &lt;strong&gt;Annual Herndon Science Competition (Experimental and Essay Category)&lt;/strong&gt;, Aerospace Corporation at El Segundo. They put 3 projects together and made them into one large project, entitled &quot;Rotational Energy Converted to X motion, Y motion and Wavelike Motion&quot;. These are the aerial car, MESA wind project and the SER--UCLA incentive award winner last year.The project won 1st place in the Experimental and Essay Category. This is Monroe&amp;#39;s 4th year to win 1st place in the Aerospace Corporation Science Competition using JPL and MESA projects. The winners were Ramon Gomez, Sarah Nyenke, Estefani Marin, Isabelle Martinez and Jessica Javier. All of these kids are MESA and JPL winners. Each student received $2,000 dollars, and Ramon won an extra $1,000 for the Essay.&lt;/p&gt;

		<title>Fifth Annual RISE-UP Poster Competition</title>

		<description>&lt;p&gt;The&lt;strong&gt; 6th Annual CEED RISE-UP Poster Competition &lt;/strong&gt;was held at UCLA on August 27, 2009 in the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) lobby. There were seventeen presenters, and the competition was judged by: Stephen Jacobsen, Associate Dean Emeritus of HSSEAS; Richard Wesel, Associate Dean of HSSEAS; and Rick Ainsworth, CEED Director. First place was awarded to Dianne Pulido, who is a 3rd year Bioengineering student, for her work on Vesicular Monoamine Transporter as a Neuroprotective Agent in a Drosophila Model of Parkinson&amp;#39;s Disease sponsored by Amgen, under the direction of Professor David Krantz. Second place was awarded to Alex Franceschi, who is a 5th year Mechanical Engineering student, for his work on The Effects of Particle Size and Processing on the Properties of a Barium Titanate (BaTiO&lt;sub&gt;3&lt;/sub&gt;) Polymer Composite sponsored by SINAM, under the direction of Professor H. Thomas Hahn. Third place was awarded to Anthony Erlinger, who is a 5th year Electrical Engineering student, for his work on Lens-free On-chip Cell Counting and Characterization for Wireless Health Applications sponsored by Intel, under the direction of Professor Aydogan Ozcan.&lt;/p&gt;
